Here’s what’s happening at Juniper! Take a look at this week’s news and reminders to stay up to date on school activities and important information.

Neighborhood Healthcare Mobile Dental Clinic

Give your child’s smile some extra care! Neighborhood Healthcare’s Mobile Dental Clinic is coming to our school to make dental care more convenient for our families. Students can receive preventive dental services right at school, helping families avoid missed work or school for a dental appointment. Services may include a dental exam, cleaning, fluoride treatment, X-rays, sealants, and oral health education. We encourage families to take advantage of this convenient opportunity! If you are interested in having your child participate, please complete and return the Neighborhood Healthcare Mobile Dental Clinic consent form to the front office. Your completed form will allow your child to be considered for services when the mobile clinic visits our school.

GATE

The Escondido Union School District is pleased to announce that the testing window will be opening for Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) identification. All 2nd grade students will have the opportunity to participate in universal screening in November. In addition, parents and teachers may recommend students not previously screened in grades 3 through 8 to be screened for GATE eligibility. Parents can pick up the Parent Background and Input Form in the school’s front office should return it to the school by Friday, October 30th. A school team will review requests and determine which students will be eligible to be screened in November. For more information, please visit our district website or stop by the school office.

Ghost Grams

Send a little fun to a friend! Ghost Grams are on sale for just $1 each! Students can purchase a Ghost Gram to send to a friend or classmate. It’s a fun way to brighten someone’s day and let them know you’re thinking of them!

5th Grade Field Trip

Our 5th graders are heading to San Elijo Lagoon for an educational field trip! Mrs. Catalanotto and Mr. Green’s classes will attend on October 21, followed by Ms. Seever and Mrs. Winkler’s classes on October 23. Please make sure your child wears comfortable clothing and shoes for exploring and brings a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the trip.

School Site Council/Community Schools Meeting

Our School Site Council/Community Schools Meeting will be held on October 21 at 2:45 pm. This is an opportunity for families, staff, and community members to come together, share ideas, and help support our school community. We are currently looking for one more parent to join our School Site Council and have a voice in discussions about our school’s programs, needs, and goals. If you are interested in getting involved, we would love to have you join us!

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week at Juniper Elementary is happening next week, October 26–30, celebrating a drug-free lifestyle with the theme “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.” This annual campaign, started in 1986 to honor DEA Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, encourages students and families to talk about the importance of saying no to drugs and alcohol and making positive choices. Students received their puzzle piece last week, which includes a healthy pledge, please read it, have your child sign it, and return it to school.

Throughout the week, we will celebrate with Spirit Days:

  • Monday, 10/26: Red Day

  • Tuesday, 10/27: Hawaiian Day

  • Wednesday, 10/28: Dress like a Superhero Day

  • Thursday, 10/29: Tie Dye Day
