We’re excited to share another week full of learning, events here at Juniper! Please take a moment to read through this week’s updates so you don’t miss out on important reminders and ways to stay connected with our school community.
Clothing Donation
Our school nurse is in need of extra clothing for students who may need a change of clothes during the day. We are especially looking for new underwear, shorts, and other bottoms for boys and girls in sizes appropriate for ages 3–7. If you are able to donate, please bring items to the nurse’s office. These donations will be used for students who have accidents or unexpected spills.

Phone Policy
To help maintain a focused learning environment, smartphones, smart watches, and other mobile communication devices may not be used while students are on campus. If students bring a device, it must be turned off and kept in their backpack during the school day.
If a device is used or visible:
• 1st offense: The device will be taken to the office and returned at the end of the day.
• 2nd offense: The device will be returned to a parent or guardian and a contract will be signed.
• 3rd offense: The student will be required to check their device in at the office each morning and pick it up after school for a period of time.
If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the school office and we will make sure your child receives the message. Thank you for your support in keeping our classrooms focused and distraction free. For questions, please call 760-432-2462.

Emoji Day
Get ready to show your favorite faces and fun expressions! ASB Emoji Day will be on Feb. 27. Students are encouraged to wear emoji shirts, accessories, or bright colors and join in the excitement.

Every Jaguar Counts Assembly
Join us for our Every Jaguar Counts Assembly on Feb. 27 at 8:00 AM. This month, students will be dancing to Move It, bringing lots of energy and excitement to the morning. Families are welcome to attend, cheer on our students, and join in the fun. We will also recognize our Student of the Month during the assembly. We look forward to celebrating our Jaguar community together.
Coffee with Cottingham
Join us for Coffee with Cottingham on February 27 at 8:30am, right after the Every Jaguar Counts Assembly. This is a great opportunity for parents to connect, ask questions, and enjoy some conversation while getting to know our school community better. Parents will also have the chance to make corn husk dolls as part of a fun hands-on activity.

ELPAC Testing
District testers will be administering the ELPAC to English Learner students in grades 3–5 on Feb. 24. Please make sure your child is present and on time so they can complete their testing.

Fire Drill
We will be having a scheduled fire drill on Feb. 27 at 10:30 am to help students and staff practice what to do in case of an emergency. This drill is an important part of keeping our school safe and making sure everyone knows how to evacuate calmly and quickly. Please remind your child to listen carefully and follow directions during the drill

Kindergarten Family Day
We’re excited to welcome families to join our Kinder students in Ms. Houshmandi & Ms. Rowe’s class for Family Day at Lunch on February 27 from 12:25 to 12:45. Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to find parking and check in. As a reminder, we ask that you avoid bringing soda, red or blue chips, or energy drinks to help maintain a healthy environment for all students. A flyer with details was sent home last week.

February Attendance Challenge
It’s the final week of the February Attendance Challenge! Each Thursday this month, students who are at school earn a special Jaguar sticker. BONUS REWARD Anyone who made it to school every Thursday will receive a big exclusive sticker once the challenge wraps up. Finish strong and help us end the month on a great note!

Lost and Found
Our lost and found is overflowing! If your child is missing something, please take a moment to check the table during drop-off or pick-up. As a reminder, labeling your child’s belongings with their name helps us return items quickly if they’re brought to the lost and found. We’ll soon be donating any unclaimed items, so please stop by to pick up your child’s things before they’re gone. Let’s work together to make sure everything makes its way back home!

Read Across America
Juniper School is celebrating its 27th Annual Read Across America Celebration from March 2nd - 6th! This special tradition honors beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss and encourages all adults to read to a child. Throughout the week, we’ll welcome guest readers from the community, including a local author, City Council Members, EPD Officers, EUSD Board Members, Administration, and Juniper Staff, who will visit classrooms to share their love of reading. We’re also adding some fun spirit days to the celebration. March is National Reading Month, so we encourage families to read with their children every night, even just 5 minutes a day can make a difference! Let’s make this a month full of stories, imagination, and a love for reading!
