I hope you had a wonderful weekend with your family! Please take a moment to check out this week's news and events.

Arrival and Dismissal - It has been observed that some families are dropping off students along the red curb on Juniper Street or in the parking lot of the neighboring apartments. Please note that stopping or parking at the red curb, even with your hazard lights on, is illegal, and the apartment parking lot is private property. We ask that everyone respects the property of our neighbors as part of our community. All students being driven to school should be dropped off in the designated Drop-Off Zone in the school parking lot. Additionally, please refrain from leaving your vehicle parked in the red zone to walk up and pick up your student. For everyone's safety, use the crosswalk, which is supervised by a crossing guard, to safely cross Juniper Street. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!

GATE Testing - The Escondido Union School District continues to offer the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. All 2nd graders will participate in universal screening in November. 2nd grade parents, keep an eye out for a District letter with more information the week of Oct. 7. Parents and teachers can recommend 3rd-5th graders for screening. Forms are available at the front office and due by Friday, October 18. For more details, visit the office click here: EUSD GATE

Parent Conferences - Parent Conferences are scheduled for October 10th and 11th. Teachers have already sent home conference times, so if you haven’t received yours, please reach out to your child’s teacher directly. These conferences are a great opportunity to strengthen the partnership between families and teachers. As a child’s first teacher, parents play a key role in helping teachers understand their child's unique strengths and areas for improvement. Together, parents and teachers can address concerns and work on a plan for academic success. Please ensure you have your conference appointment scheduled. If you have any questions, contact Mercedes Aguilar at 760-432-2462.

No School - Due to parent conferences, students will not have school on Thursday, Oct. 10 and Friday, Oct. 11. We’re excited to meet with you and discuss your child’s progress and achievements!

Clothing Donations - Our school nurse is in need of extra clothing for students who may need a change of clothes during the day. If you have any gently used clothes that no longer fit your child, we would greatly appreciate your donations. Please bring them to the nurse’s office. These items will be used for students who have accidents or unexpected spills.

Safe Walk to School Month - October is Safe Walk to School Month, and we encourage all of our students to walk or bike to school safely. Walking or biking promotes physical activity, reduces traffic congestion, and helps build community connections. If your child is biking, please make sure they wear a properly fitted helmet for safety. Remind your child to use crosswalks, walk with friends, and follow all traffic rules to ensure they arrive at school safely. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
